Reaching Nepal

Reaching Nepal
Reaching the Unreached in the 10/40 Window
Reaching Nepal exists to create vital relationships with the people of Nepal, see the unreached people groups accept Christ, be discipled, and start vibrant reproducing churches, and to see men and women called out of those churches to reach other people groups in the Himalayas.

The Uniqueness of Christianity

November 14th, 2006

Over the last four or five months I have become more and more aware of the depth of pluralism in Nepal. The longer I am here I see that peoples attitudes toward Jesus are not normally aggressive or hateful, but instead I see many people with the attitude, “That’s good for you” or “Ok, we will just add him to our other god’s.” This idea that all roads religions to the same God has covered this land. What we call postmodernism has some of it’s roots in this Hindu culture and not only is it found in Asia but now this idea of “many roads, one God” is spreading all over the west like a plague. People are buying into the idea that there is no absolute truth in life- that truth is what you believe it to be.

This last Saturday I started a new sermon series called, “The Uniqueness of Christianity”. I am determined to show how our faith is different than all other religions and ways of thought in this world. As I finish each sermon I will post it here so that you can read. This information is not only useful to the believer here in Nepal, but also those in the west. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think.

Quick Update

November 6th, 2006

Surprise, Surprise- I’m sick again. Since coming here I have been sick at least once a month. This is very unusual for me. Back in America I only got sick about once a year and even then I was over it in a day are two. My immune system is normally rock solid, but the Nepali germs are beating the day lights out of me. I guess it’s just part of the job!

My buddy Josh who came out to help me for a few months left on Saturday to hike to Everest base camp. He, another America, and one of my students from the Bible college will be gone for two weeks on this trip. Pray for their safety and for open doors to share the Gospel. The Everest region is very cold to the Truth of Christ and they desperately need Hope.

Another bit of exciting news is that I will be getting a full-time roommate in December. Right now Josh is living with me, but I have been praying for a roommate who will stay full-time in Nepal. Last week one of my friends from my language class asked if I knew of a place he could live. It’s amazing how his need of an apartment met my need of a roommate. My new roommate is a man from the Philippians in his 40?s. Please pray that we both will adjust well and that we can be flexible. Also, please pray for a second roommate for my apartment. I have 3 bedrooms in my place and would love to have another missionary or Nepali live here.
