Sweet! My First Tropical Disease

Bloged in Uncategorized by reachingnepal Thursday June 29, 2006

After 2 weeks of being sick and one trip to the hospital, I decided I better go to a private clinic where the medical standards are a bit higher. After about 5 minutes of checking me over the doctor was confident that I had typhoid. He ordered tests on my blood for malaria just in case, but most likely its typhoid. I know it sounds scary, but he assured me I will recover soon. Please continue to pray. With medicine I should recover in 10 days to 3 weeks. Its so crazy- I have typhoid .This whole ordeal makes me feel like a real missionary! He is teaching me the lesson I have continued to learn this last year: God is good…even when life isn’t. Thanks again for holding the ropes as I go down into the darkness.

Praise God! I talked to your Mom yesterday and we were considering
packing our bags to come and get you! At least now you know what you have.
What would a mission term be without a good disease!!! Really I am so
tahnkful you have meds and are on your way to recovery. We are still praying.
    big big hugs!!

What a dweeb. You think it’s cool to say you’ve had typhoid? Pshhh… Yeah, OK, you’re right-it is cool. I wish I could have typhoid too.

Only you and Dave would get excited about having typhoid! Well, I’m glad they can treat it and I hope you’ll be feeling better soon. You’re in my prayers. Love you

Hey there, I’m praying for you..after my bout with throwing up and other fun stomach problems here, I too, felt like a real missionary:) However, I can’t say I have ever had typhoid…just some severe bacteria that didn’t like my stomach too well. Anyhow, I know how miserable it is to be sick and have that taking away your energy and mind from things like the language and just living day to day. Know that I am praying for you daily and I know God will bring recovery to you just as he has also brought this sickness.

    Take care, Bethany

Typhoid huh? You are the real deal now. I thought your head was just hurting
because it had expanded because your brains have gotton so big as you have learned
the language and your brains are so big now they are about to explode out of your skull. I guess that I was wrong huh? We’ll go with what the doctors say. Get lots of rest and know that I am praying hard for you
