Honda Unicorn
After much research, asking around, and a few prayers I finally bought a motorbike. I narrowed in down to two bikes: the Bajaj Pulsar 180 and the Honda Unicorn. I had almost decided to buy the Pulsar, but after 4 trips to the showroom and no bike to test drive I got fed up. Each time I went the salesman told me he had a shipment coming in the next day and I could test drive one. Finally I got the idea that they were just tell me what they thought I wanted to hear. The Pulsar had a little bit bigger engine, but because of the poor service and the high respect I have for Honda products; I opted for the Unicorn. It’s a 150cc engine (13.5 hp) with a reputation for having a smooth ride and great gas mileage…oh yeah, it’s cool looking too. Now all I have to do is to get it modified for off-road use. I praise the Lord for His provision with this bike and thank you for giving. Now I ask that you to pray for two more things: pray that I can pass my motorcycle license test and pray that God protects me on the roads in Nepal.
I spent much of the day working on getting a student visa. After today I am beginning to see more clearly the way things work here in Nepal- tons of red tape, pointless procedures, endless waiting, and corruption. Please make my visa a matter of prayer. My current visa runs out in 25 days and I need a new one soon.
Language is going well I have gotten lots of ground work done. I am now at the point where I need to memorize about a million words so that I can begin having conversations. I am still far from doing anything productive in this language, but at least I can do some of the basics. God is good. He shows me that truth everyday.

AWESOME! I am jealous. Good luck on that test. I know how hard it is. Haha! Just don’t lay the bike down and you’ll be ok. We prayed for Mahendra in classes this morning.

All I can say is that God has led you to the Unicorn. You know how I feel about Honda –Having had four of their autos (and one of them for over 10 years). And as for the Unicorn — that’s the name of our library automation system that I have spent the last 6 years overseeing — can’t be beat!
Am going on a three-day technology coordinators retreat tomorrow. Will check back with you on Friday morning…
Love you always and BE SAFE,
Mom

Just wanted to let you know I still read your blog everyday. We prayed for you and this new guy today in class (I can’t say his name or spell it.) I hope you reach him. Well, just wanted to let you know we still think of you! Mandi

Though Spanish is probably MUCH easier than Nepali, I have learned that the best way to get better at speaking Spanish (or any language) is by practicing. So many times I don’t say things to the Spanish people at church simply because I don’t think that I know how to; but I’ve begun to see that I should say what I can. The big thing about speaking another language is being comfortable with it, and that comes with using the language often. I know, you will probably be speaking fluent Nepali before I can get the hang of Spanish! (Still, I know how good it is to be reminded of the need to continually practice what I am learning.)
Nice bike! I don’t know anything about motorbikes, so all that I can say is that it looks very pretty and shiny! It was good to hear about your witnessing to Mahendra. I will be praying for him ( and for you, that God will use you in this situation). It is exciting to read about the witnessing opportunities that you have had. You are such an example to me. Stay strong in the faith! -Bonnie

Hey Nathan,
Just decided to read up and see how you are doing, and it’s so good to hear that God is
really blessing. I am praying for you and for the language learning process…I know
the struggles there. Things here continue to go well, a friend here, Howard, and I
have felt God lay it on our hearts to start a new cell group/small group, and tonight
was night 2….amazing! We had two people come who have just recently become believers
and tonight we doubled attendence to 8 (last week 4). Wow, I read what you wrote about
how you were made to live in your country, and you know its so amazing God reaffirms that
daily here as well…It is such an awesome unparalleled adventure to live every day in the
very center of his grace and glory! I’m praying for you, keep shining and keep being the
amazing light you are!
