God gave me great encouragement from His Word today. I was preparing to walk over to my Bible class at the college and I happened to open the Bible to Psalm 27. As I read this amazing passage I was struck by two things:
27:1-3
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
First I see that David placed His confidence in three things: the Lord being his salvation, his guiding light, and his strength in everyday life. All of David’s hopes were placed in the hands of God.
27:4
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
The second thing I see is that David’s single greatest desire in life was to be in the presence of God. David was a king and general. He had money along with power and knew what fame and success were all about. With all this, David’s passion was for His presence.
Jesus, may my life long desire be to walk with You and enjoy Your love. I want to be used to change the hearts of men, but I want to be consumed with you even more. Never let me forget that You are my first love.

Hey Nathan,
I just wanted to tell you that your a huge encouragement to me. I miss you and I’m praying for you. I’m very grateful that God allowed us to build a friendship while we were at college. I can’t wait to see what God does in the future!!!

Nathan, your students will be richly blessed by your teaching. Talked to your Mom yesterday. We were discussing the lost of David Fridley. Barb said it all yesterday “God had given David the gift of giving”. Well done my good and faithful servant - he will be missed. Your picture is hanging at my desk and so often I stop to ask the Father to take care of you and bless your work. Love you dearly
