A New Best Friend
Well everyone is now gone and I am left to dive into the great task ahead. This morning I climbed up to the top of our house’s water tower to pray and read the Bible. As I look out, I began to think about the 2 million people who live in my city. They carry on there lives as like nothing is wrong, but I know that they live without hope. Over this last month I have been struck with one word over and over again; hopeless. No matter what they do they have no real hope without the Savior of the world. O God be the hope they need….reveal yourself.
On a lighter note. Now that I am focusing on language study and getting adapted to the field, I felt like I needed some companionship. No, I didn’t go get married. I got a dog! Today, Shyam and I headed over to a local dog kennel to take a look. My dream is to have a Mastiff or a Great Dane, but those dogs would seriously scare the Nepali people. With that in mind, I was looking to get a midsize dog. They had several German Shepards, a Lab, what looked like a Saint Bernard mix, and even a Great Dane. As we sat in the office the owner started speaking Nepali to one of the workers. He stepped out and came back with the cutest little dalmatian puppy. All along I was thinking about getting a dalmatian. It’s big but not too big, athletic, and a good companion. As I was playing with the little pup I ask what other puppies they had and he told me that she was the only one. Since I wanted a puppy that was it for me. To be honest I would have picked her out of a thousand dogs.
